Case Study – Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary
Pawling Systems have just completed the installation of our impact protection products at The Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary in Wigan
The project required heavy duty protection to the doors, walls, and corners as well as a handrail support within the corridors.
For the main corridor walls the client specified our BR-400V combined handrail and WG-8 wall guard which provides not only heavy-duty protection but also a high-quality finish which is in keeping with a modern ward setting. The BR-400V combined handrail and wall guard is manufactured using a 3-piece PVC cover which allows for almost infinite choice of colour combinations. In this instance the client selected the colour Pearl Grey for the handrail sections and Linen White for the bumper rail section. The WG-8 Crash Rail was installed at a lower level to absorb the inevitable impact traffic. The colour selected for the WG-8 was also Pearl Grey.
At the vulnerable external corners, we installed Pawling CG-20 Corner Guards which with aluminium retainers, PVC impact covers, and end caps provide an excellent finish whilst also preventing impact damage from heavy duty traffic.
Within the bedrooms the impact solution to bed movement was the installation of Pawling BL-30 Bed Head Protectors. These twin buffers are mounted at the bed head thus provides protection against impact from variable height beds.
Doors are of course very vulnerable to impact damage and the client therefore selected our WC-60 PVC Impact Panels to the face and our DEG-3 Door Edge Guards to protect the edges. Both products were again supplied in Pearl Grey.
The project was completed on time and very much to our client’s satisfaction. We are sure that the Pawling Impact Protection installed will keep this new hospital building looking good for many years to come.
